The purpose of this component is to help the user find all the best offers on the site.
The component groups all the offers together and is easy to access from any page on the site. It is designed to be prominent, yet not enough to distract the user from the main objective: finding the perfect frame he desires.
The challenge is to help the user choose from a huge selection: I wanted to help the user to find the right frame while browsing through the 7000 frames that are available.
I had designed a component that shows the user similar frames to his search and helps him to pinpoint the choice. This is done in order to facilitate the process of the selection, in combination with an optimization system. The system identifies the preferred style and filters the frames according to the user's preference.
The challenge I've faced on this page was to explain a relatively complex topic: reading and understanding a prescription given by the optometrist, and filling out the details while placing an order. It is crucial for this process to be flawless since the slightest mistake can result in ordering unsuitable lenses (something that is typically perfomed by a certified optometrist).
To tackle the challenge, I had chosen to present a digital prescription with a detailed explanation of each part of the prescription, such that whenever the user hovers a certain topic, the relevant part is highlited in the digital prescription.
The DSM was created for the use of designers and developers of the studio. As part of the process I had interviewed my colleagues to understand their needs. The challenge was to combine the requirements of both and create a system that would serve everyone perfectly.
The platform was designed to allow everyone to find the "components" they need to make their work more convenient and efficient. For instance, for the developers I had designed a section of patterns through which they are able to copy code snippets of components that are widely used to use them over and over again. I had also designed a sandbox where they can change the code snippets and see the changes being made in real time.
