The app is aimed at people with a busy schedule who want to exercise regularly, in their free time, using the fitness equipment in the outdoor gyms.
Following in-depth conversations I had with trainees of various fitness levels I've identified the following main problem: people who train on their own using the outdoor facilities have difficulties working out correctly and efficiently.
As a result, there might be consequences as: Injuries, lack of perseverance and disappointment with the results.
As part of my research, I've studied over 30 different mobile apps: fitness apps, nutrition, mindfulness and sleep monitoring apps.
Top issues that came up from the research:
● To get to know the user and customize his training program in the most accurate way, the app shall get the following data from the user: level of fitness, purpose of training, age&sex and the desired difficulty of the training.
● To provide the best experience it is important to create workout customization
for the user.
● To prevent injuries it is important to show instructional videos of the exercises.
In the user study I've interviewed 15 men and women, aged between 25 and 40, with a busy schedule and a desire to stay fit.
Top issues that came up from the research:
● In order to increase the motivation of the user, he is given virtual rewards to mark his milestones.
● Additionally, to keep the user motivated , the app shall send him notifications to encourage him to continue working out.
After reviewing and considering the results of my user and market research I have come up with the following app architecture.
The next step in my workflow is to create wireframes before moving on to the UI design.
The perfect workout: During the research I've conducted I discovered that there are several inputs the user must provide in order to tailor the perfect workout for him.
Personalization: The app will identify proximity to the workplace and residence and will create a customization of the workouts and exercises, to make it as easy as possible for the user to persist his trainings.
