BugetBuddy is a budget management app designed to simplify your financial journey. With personalized budgeting tools, and real-time expense tracking, it empowers users to take control of their finances effortlessly. Set financial goals, receive insightful insights, and enjoy a seamless experience to achieve financial well-being.
The main problem is: difficulty in managing and monitoring the household's current income and expenses.
Furthermore, when there is no defined goal setting there are additional consequences: absence of control, disorientation, a sense of helplessness, and overdraft issues.
As part of my research, I've studied over 15 different mobile apps: banking apps and budget management apps, credit apps and time management apps
Top issues that came up from the research:
● It is important to encourage the user to set a goal regarding their expenses.
● It is important to remind the user of the goals they set through notifications, with additional personalized recommendations, insights, and suggestions.
● It is important that the definition of the goals is done in a gradual and moderate manner, so that the user gains confidence and can meet their goals.
As part of the user study I've conducted questionnaires for 36 men and women aged 30-50. I've interviewed 10 of them.
Top issues that came up from the research:
● Most people don't set a predefined budget for themselves.
● Many households encounter unexpected expenses that impair their ability to save money.
● In families with teenagers, managing the household becomes more challenging, given the increase in the number of people spending money, which makes it difficult to monitor expenses.
After reviewing and considering the results of my user and market research I have come up with the following app architecture.
The next step in my work was to create the main user flow of the app, which involved applying an insight and setting a savings goal.
The next step in my workflow is to create wireframes before moving on to the UI design.
I prototyped my design to offer a tangible and interactive representation of the intended product. By using a prototype, I aimed to validate the design concept, gather valuable user feedback, and identify potential improvements or refinements early in the process.
Insights: the application provides the user with insights into their expenses based on the selected category and encourages them to set a savings goal, aiming for a reduction of up to 10% of the total expenses.
Goal set: after the user sets the goal, they return to the main page, where there is an indication of the category in which the goal was set. When hovering over the category, a tooltip will appear displaying : average expenses, expenses so far and the set goal.
